Skateboarder hits insane speed of almost 70 mph and faces jail time

A South African extreme skateboarder — clocked at speeds just short of 70 mph on a winding roadway — has become a YouTube sensation despite that the stunt could land the adrenaline junkie in jail.

Decio Lourenco is facing arrest after he set off a police speed camera (at 1:07 in video) — going 70 km/h in a 60 km/h zone — and "put other road users at risk."

Cape Town Safety officers said the 24-year-old's daring, longboard street surf on Jan. 20 could have created an accident.

IF you watch the video, you can see why.  But the daredevil skater-boy in short pants downplayed the danger by saying he picked a quiet time of day and was wearing a helmet and gloves for protection.

"I've been skating down hills from a young age..." he told lol news. "Often going much faster than that.  This is the first time I've gotten any attention for it."

The awesome sunset ride was filmed by friend Andre Roux who attached a camera to his front bumper.
