Ninth grader who made amazing no-look basket does interview in uniform

The Maryland ninth grader — who made the unbelievable no-look, three-point buzzer-beater that was caught on video and became a viral sensation — sat down with a FOX News affiliate to recount the excitement surrounding the amazing shot. 14-year-old Matt Demember, a freshman at Linganore High School in Frederick, Md., made the shot in a weekend church league and, after the video went viral, ESPN Sportscenter even picked it as No. 1 in their Top 10 plays Thursday night. Demember and his father, Don, sat down with a local WTTG FOX News anchor and described the memorable shot and his newfound celebrity. For some reason, the younger Demember was still wearing his uniform a few days later during his television studio interview. DC Breaking Local News Weather Sports FOX 5 WTTG In the game between his Damascus Road Community Church and Redland Baptist Church last Saturday, Demember caught a pass and without looking sent the ball through the hoop for the win. He did a casual jet-taking-off celebration as he was high-fived by teammates. The game-winning basket was almost as much a thrill to Demember as making the ESPN list. "I was running around the house," Demember said said after finding out he had made the ESPN Top 10 list. "It just kind of happened so fast that it's gone from a couple of thousand hits [on the Internet] to now close to a million," said Matt's father. Asked if the Washington Wizards had contacted him to bolster their pitiful NBA team, the younger Demember shyly joked," Not yet."
